Almost everyone grew up watching Disney films. We admired the characters, we all wanted to grow up to be like Belle or Cinderella, to be like Aladdin or Hercules. These characters were our idols; they embodied everything that we wanted to be when we were young. But now, as grown ups, they seem different. Having discussed these issues in class and having read web pages and comments on the theme, I have become deeply interested in them. What I thought and saw as beautiful and perfect in my childhood, now have changed to right the opposite. Is it that we realize that the Beauty and the Beast are in an abusive relationship? Now we have realized that some aspects, such as gender roles, are stereotyped in Disney animation films. Therefore, I want to explore to extent Disney animation films show harmful stereotypes of gender roles and race.
